Ask for help

Three of the most powerful words in English language are:
      “Please help me.”

-Cathy Conheim, therapist, author

Here are good steps to use when asking for help:

Be clear about what kind of help you’re asking for. It’s easier for others to say ‘yes” if they understand exactly what you need.

Pick the right time.

Pick the right person to ask. Some people can help you with financial advice, others with physical care, some can provide you emotional support. Make sure that you’re not just “dumping” your issues on your friend’s shoulders. That’s not asking for help.

Phrase your request in a positive language: “Can you spare half an hour to help me with my concern (not a problem)

Don’t ask for help and then reject or ignore it. This person will never help you again.

Don’t ask for help and the micromanage your helper.

Offer help. What goes around, comes around.

HOW TO:

Start asking for little things. Ask different people for different kind of help. Watch how people respond to you request for help. You’ll discover that there are plenty of people who care about you and want to support you in whatever they can. You’re in for some lovely surprises-and a little less stress!
