Make Self-Care - a Game

All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make, the better.
Ralph Waldo Emerson, poet, philosopher

My friend Tami is super health-conscious. She had a valve replacement in her heart, and her boyfriend has a history of heart trouble.
As a result, they both eat a strict low-fat, or no-fat, diet. Doesn’t sound like much fun, does it? No mayo, no egg yolks, no bacon, no “normal” salad dressing, absolutely nothing-ever-fried, no chocolate, garlic cheese bread, no prime rib…there are many “no-no’s.” Sound sad…
But Tami doesn’t seem to mind one bit. She loves to cook and try new recipes, and she makes a game out of seeing how many grams of fat she can remove from each recipe by making substitutions. Fat-free sour cream in place of real thing, no-fat whipped cream instead of real cream, fat-free sauces for meat and vegetables, low-fat salad dressings, and no fat cookies. Instead of salt, she uses wide variety of spices, making her meals interesting and tasty.
I never cease to marvel at how much pleasure she takes from her fat-busting cooking game. She had found a way to have fun with something that most people  would find onerous, depressing, and/or annoying.
I think one of the secrets of women and men who really are good at taking care of themselves is this: They really enjoy it. They like eating healthy, they like to move their bodies in exercise; they feel good about resting, napping, meditating, and getting good night sleep. They enjoy saving money and like the feeling of having a robust savings account.
They seem to have no problem avoiding toxic people, at work, business and their personal lives. This kind of people just naturally seem to enjoy the process of self-care. And if they’re not enjoying it, they’re sure doing a great job of “faking it till they make it.”

Well, if you are one of the people who realize by now that we are what we eat… there is a Web-site that we co-created, called

www.TotalWellnessMatters.com

please take a look at it, and if it makes sense to you, and you would like to learn how to Cook and Eat for Wellness, you may print out your own
book called“110 Ways To EatWell”

This book co-creators put their knowledge, love and passion for
better quality of life together. They worked hard, and had fun too.
